Back in Fargo

So, I've been here in Fargo for about 5 days now.  I've been able to out with Chris, Erika, Joel, Tim, Ruby, and Rick.  I didn't realize how much I missed Fargo till I had that night out.  Chris told me he'd call tonight to see what's going on.

The show I'm playing in, "Anything Goes", has been doing well.  Last night was opening night, and the audience seemed to enjoy the show.  I'm playing the 2nd book next to Dr. Mueller.  He has to get up on stage for one of the songs on top of this ship that rocks back and forth while the people are dancing.  He says it's kind of scary playing like that.  If anyone is in town till this Saturday, you should go see the show.  It's at MSUM, and it is great!

I have come to the conclusion that when I am at my aunt's house, I become very lazy.  For the past few days I've slept in till at least noon.  It's hard to get up earlier when I don't have to!  Also, when I'm here, I really don't ask for anything, but my aunt spoils me and that is something I'm not quite used to.

Also, seeing Andrew again is quite nice.  I've learned how to deal with not seeing someone for a long time, because I've had to do it before.  But I still missed him terribly, and it is great to have some time together finally, even though now with my show that's not a big possibility since he works days and my show is at night...

Anyhoo, I am having a sudden coffee craving, so I am off to fulfill that need...

Leaving on a Ford Escort...

Allright, so it's been about a week and a half since I last posted.  My bad...  But anyway, even though that much time has gone by, not alot of things have happened.  But that is all about to change because tomorrow I am leaving for Fargo and will be gone for over 2 weeks.

First of all, Dr. Andrew Froelich hired me to be in the pit orchestra for "Anything Goes".  This show is going to pay me $500 for four rehearsals and 4 shows.  Not bad at all!  That's more than I would make staying here at the grocery store for a week.  While I'm in Fargo I'll also be working in the band library doing what I left behind.  If I run into Dr. O while I'm there he may have marching band music ready for me to take care of...

After I'm done with the show, I'll be going to Minot for Chris Hanson's Jass Festival.  I got the music not too long ago, and it looks like it's going to be a fun gig there!  I am looking forward to seeing everyone there and partying it up with them.  Then, when I get back to Fargo after that, I'll see a fireworks show with my aunt and uncle.  Then I'll go home for about a week before marching band starts!

School is almost here, and I am looking forward to it actually!  I guess it's because that is where most of my friends are now, and I've been getting kind of lonely here at home.  I will miss some things once school starts, like my family and my animals.  And this is the first time EVER that I will be missing the County Fair.  I always show my horse there, and this year I can't!  I'm a little upset about that.

Well, tomorrow I have a long drive up to Fargo.  I'm taking a different route this time which will save me on gas, but not time.  There will be more scenery though, which is a great change from the boring I-29 drive....  I still have to pack yet in the morning too, which is going to be a little difficult since I have to plan for 2.5 weeks!

Well, I'll let you know how the show goes and everything else during my Fargo visit.  Take care everyone!

A little bit happier...

So, it's been a week since I last posted on here. The only thing that has realy happened in that week was that I went to Fargo this past weekend to visit Andrew. He was supposed to come down here, but his car was kind of immobile at the time, so I went up there. It was so good to see him again. I didn't want to leave, but I'll be back up there in about 2 weeks, so it isn't that bad.

Tomorrow night me and Denae are having a pizza, beer, and eye-candy movie night. This will be only the second time we've done something since I came home for the summer. It should be good times.

So as I said, I'll be back in Fargo in a couple weeks again because I got hired to do a musical gig in Moorhead that will pay me $500 for 4 rehearsals and 4 shows. Not bad!! Then shortly after that, I have Jass out in Minot, so I'm just going to stay in Fargo those few days instead of drive home and coming back. Waste of expenses and gas I say.

Anyway, I just got done with City Band practice. This week's concert is a Broadway theme one. That's not too bad. Next week is a Christmas in July concert. I will not be going to that one. I get annoyed when I hear Christmas music in November, let alone in the summertime. If I were to play in it I would go nuts.

With that, there is nothing else to tell now. I got to work a bunch this week, and I get the house to myself this weekend as my parents are going away for their anniversary. Time to myself will be nice...

More fun...

Well, the past few days have been more eventful than my whole month being home. I got to hang out with my best friend for the first time since I've been home on Saturday. And today I got to have a last minute lunch date with my good friend who has an internship in Iowa. It's been at least a good 7 months since I've seen him last, and it was good to catch up on things.

We had family over yesterday for the 4th, and I do sometimes forget how wierd my family is. I am the calm and quiet one compared to the rest of them. First, I got to see my cousin Bill make Sparkler bombs, which are neat in themselves. Then we all laughed at him as the story was being told of how he managed to shoot himself in the balls with a nailgun at work. Most people would cringe at that idea, but we just laugh our heads off. All in all, it was a good time, even when it started raining. We just moved everything into the garage and watched my little 2nd cousins run in and out of the rain.

There was also the city band concert last night, which I got to direct half of the concert. It went quite well, and I had a great time doing it. There were probably about 500 people watching the concert, and who knows how many more were listening to it on the radio.

After the concert, there were the fireworks. First of all, the great city of Worthington never does the greatest show of fireworks. Second, because of this it makes watching them with my family all the more entertaining. With all the "ooh"'s and "aaah"'s they do, and with uncle Tom singing The Stars and Stripes makes it for good laughs. One of the new favorites is the Blue Collar Comedy Tour guys. We were quoting them all night long. After the "great" firework show, we went to my uncle's house to sit around a little contained fire in their backyard and shot off illegal fireworks in town. With Bill shooting bottle rockets and roman candles (with the help of my uncle Tim) it was entertaining yet kind of scary when they start shooting things that move suddenly and you think you are going to die! All in all, it was great to be with the family again. I just wish I could see them more.

Well, that was just all yesterday! Today wasn't as exciting, but somewhat eventful. I was at the auditorium all day putting music into folders for the city band rehearsal today. It was pouring rain outside for about 3 hours, when I noticed while making copies that it sounded like water was dripping from the basement where the dressing rooms are. Lo and behold, there was a mini-waterfall in the basement, and I thought to myself, "this ain't good!" So I made some calls, and a very relieved Margaret (the woman who manages the Auditorium) thanked me for calling, and they got people over right away. If I hadn't been there, she wouldn't have been there till tomorrow, and who knows how much damage could have been done. So I did my good deed for the day I guess.

Tomorrow doesn't look to be as promising for events. I'll just do my usual routine and later on watch "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." Hope everyone had a great 4th!!!

Air Conditioning!!!

Huzzah!!! It finally happened! Daddy put in the air conditioner today downstairs. Now we can enjoy the coolness in our house instead of sweltering heat and humidity. And it came in earlier than normal.

Today I spent the afternoon with my best friend Denae. It's the first time we've been able to do anything since I got home. We went walking around the lake in town for a bit. After that we went to the Ground Round and had an early dinner there because she had to work at 5:00. It was good to have time to talk and catch up on things. I just wish there were more times we could do that. That would actually bring more joy to my summer.

Along with that, I went running this evening. It was kind of cool outside with a little breeze going, so I got the ambition to run. Usually it's still hot and humid in the evening, but tonight was different. It felt good to run, even though it was for only 10 minutes. I'm not used to it yet, so I got to build up to it you know...

Well, tomorrow is going to be a long but fun day. It's almost midnight now, so I should get some sleep. To everyone reading (I wonder if anyone does...), hope you all have a great 4th of July!!

Fighting Squirrels...

This weekend is the 4th of July, and this is the first thing since I've been home that I am looking forward to. On Sunday we'll have family over at my place for the afternoon. Then that night there is a City Band concert, in which I will be directing half of the concert.

It's finally feeling like summer now. For the past few weeks it has been on the cool side, but now the past few days have been in the 80's. It's finally shorts weather! Now me and mom have to get Dad to put in the air conditioner. That won't be for at least a week or two because how this works is that Dad has to be uncomfortable before it goes in. So me and Mom have to suffer until Dad puts it in.

I got TBS pictures yesterday from Joan in the mail. She's all moved in at the Twin Cities. I'm really gonna miss her when school starts and she's not there in the band with us. She was also a great roomate to have last year. We also roomed together all 4 years of concert band tour. Who's gonna replace her?!?!

Well, I got to go into town for a while, then I got to work tonight. Fun times for me...
