My Rants and Celebrations

A simple place to put my thoughts down...

Well, the wedding dance on Sunday for Al and Annika went pretty good. It was a smaller crowd than I expected, but people still had fun, and that's what matters in the end. It was held at the Expressway Inn in Fargo. They had a lot of goodies to eat! Al & Annika looked so happy together when they did their first dance. I almost started crying! I am very happy for those two, and I wish them all the best.

It was also the last night that Russ Pfaff played with Patents Pending. It's sad to see him go, but he's graduated with a degree and everything, and he needs to go and follow the path that's right for him. He'll come and visit of course. It will be different without him in the band though....

The next day I went shopping with some of the money I got for playing the night before. Well, the main reason was that it was cold and rainy on Monday and I did not pack properly. I had a rather pleasant afternoon with shopping at the mall, going to Barnes & Noble for coffee and reading, then I went to Babb's for more coffee and to read my book I bought at Barnes & Noble! I spent an extra night in Fargo to spend some time with Andrew. We went out to eat at Johnny Carino's (highly recommended!). After that we went to the Fargo Theatre and watched "March of the Penguins". It was such a cute and interesting movie! Go see it!!

Last night was my cousin Shawn's wedding. His bride Mandy got back from Kuwait last week, had to find her dress and the rings right away, but I guess everyone was very understanding of the situation. It was an outdoor wedding at her parent's house. The weather was just perfect! Afterward there was a reception in her backyard with a roasted pig. Very good.... I've been sick for the past couple days, so unfortunatly I had to leave early. I didn't want to, but I was getting tired quickly. It's sad that Mandy has to go back to Kuwait in early August. Shawn's unit is called to go to Iraq, and there's a possibility that he'll go there before Mandy gets back. So they might not see each other again for at least a year. They are meant to be together, and I'm glad Shawn found her. Now I'm the only cousin left to get married........

Denae left for Arizona early this morning. I am very sad. We'll leave it at that for now.

I have to get ready for work. Booo on that....

Halfway done

So, it's been almost a month since I last posted here. For three of those four weeks all I've been doing is working. Last week, though, I spent in the Twin Cities.

First, from Tuesday to Thursday I spent with Kristian. He had some leave time for family things and he had some time set aside for me to come visit. I got there early Tuesday afternoon, in which I woke him up from his nap. We went and watched "Mr. & Mrs. Smith", which I highly recommend. We spent the rest of the evening at an Irish pub called Dubliner, where they poured a great Guiness!

Wednesday consisted of us going to the mall in Ridgedale because I wanted to get a new sexy top to wear for that night, and I was sure Kristian could help me in that. We had a late lunch, went to Barnes & Noble, then waited for the evening when we were to meet up with his friend Brandon at a cigar bar. I met Brandon a couple years ago in Fargo, and he left there about the same time as Kristian did, so I haven't seen him for over 2 years. The guys taught me how to play dice and I watched them play some poker. Brandon is doing very well for himself in that he owns his own insurance company now. It was great seeing him again and I plan on visiting him more in the future.

On Thursday Kristian and I went to a beach at Hiawatha Park for a few hours. I had to drive him to the airport that evening. I was sad to see him go for the fact that I have no idea when I'll see him again. I guess that's what I get for having a friend in the military.

This past weekend was Joan's bachelorette party. Me and Karen were there Thursday night, while Jenny and Nancy came Saturday afternoon. On Saturday we went to the Twins/Angels game. I always thought the Metrodome was bigger.... After that we went to the Old Spaghetti Shop where we had drinks and some light food (I had a decent Shiraz). We then went back to Joan's place where we had drinks and watched "Sex & the City".

The day before the three of us went to Ikea, which you should know by now is my favorite store on Earth! I got a few things there, but I am saving for a big trip there after I know what I all need at my place. Then we went to Mall of America because Karen wanted to shop there also. I got myself a bottle of 2002 Petite Sirah. I think I may save it for when I move at school. Overall, it was a very enjoyable week and I was sad to come back home.

I only have to work for 4 days though because on Sunday I will be traveling to Fargo to play for Al and Annika's wedding dance with Patents Pending. This is a number of events that I have been looking forward to all summer. There is going to be a lot of people there, and it is always fun to play for a good audience!

Well, this has gone on long enough for now. I have to get ready for city band rehearsal tonight. I'll get back to this in about a week after I get back from Fargo...
