My Rants and Celebrations

A simple place to put my thoughts down...

it's summertime

Well, so far things are going well... kind of.... I'm going to be playing "Anything Goes" for the FMCT, and the first rehearsal is tonight. They pay is kind of crap, but right now I need to get money any way I can. The job hunt is going well. I went to a greenhouse/nursery today and got an application. I will go back tomorrow and talk to the manager as she was not there today. It would be fun working with plants all summer......

Dan Johnson came over for a couple minutes yesterday to the apartment. He said it was definetly a "Beseler" apartment... He's right.... It sucks when you don't have a lot of things....

I've been getting really homesick lately. It doesn't help the matter that my mom is going through some things with her cancer right now and I kind of feel guilty being up here in Fargo and not being back home to help out. I know that I can't keep going back home for the summer forever, but that 9 acres is the only place where I feel completly happy and at peace.... Someday I will live there, but not for some years.....

Keep my mother in your prayers. She still has a long road ahead.....

Good News!!!

My mother had an appointment today to see if the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes before they got the cancer out of her breast. The test results came back that the lymph nodes were clear!!! She will still have to do radiation therapy and possibly chemo, but this is now a huge weight off of my shoulders.

I brought my car into the body shop yesterday to get it fixed finally from when that damn cab pulled out in front of me. They called this afternoon and said it was done. That's damn fast! But I know they do good work. And I'm glad that I don't have to pay for it. The cab company's insurance is paying for it.... :)

So the Preakness Stakes were on this past Saturday. The Kentucky Derby winner, Barbaro, was the hopeful to win the Preakness, and possibly win the Triple Crown. Shortly into the race he severly broke his rear right leg. If you look at the picture above, he is the horse whose hind leg is sticking out to the side. Luckily, the jockey pulled him up quickly to prevent any more damage. He had a leg operation on Sunday, and so far he has pulled through. He now has 27 screws in his leg and he still has a long road of avoiding infections or even if the leg will heal properly. For any horse lover, it was painful to watch.

My mom has breast cancer... I am so scared right now....

So today I saw something that made me laugh. There was a guy outside the Memorial Union today "preaching" about how you should fear God and off all the bad things we do and how we are going to go to Hell. I use the term "preach" loosely as it was more like yelling at us and trying to scare us.

As I watched him, I was thinking to myself, "This is not an effective way to convert someone to a religion." I think many people would say the same thing. How effective is would it be to yell and scream and shout at people about something that you want them to believe in? I know that I would not even listen to them, as I did not take this guy's words into consideration. While he was talking, a student came out of the union with his own sign that said: Jesus Would Hate This! And honestly, I'm sure he does. I'm pretty sure that in the Bible Jesus did not go around to people yelling and screaming at them. He went around and told stories... and he spoke them nicely....

Oh, also, this guy also said that the Roman Catholic Church is not a true religion, he bashed the Jewish faith and Jews in general, and he said that all fraternity boys want is sex. I only stayed for about 10 minutes just out of morbid curiosity.

Enough of that. Today I am going to the Twin Cities area to see Eric Schmitt get married. Aaron is a groomsman in it, so I'm like his date. I'll be driving down with Joel, Erika, and Robin. So I should wrap this up as I have to pack yet!!
